Are You Using The Correct Lunch Box For Children?

Food and kids have a love-hate kind of relationship. If they love it, they want to eat and over eat it all the time. But god forbid they hate or dislike certain foods; which they most usually do, even the gods will throw their hands in the air calling it quits. There’s no way of getting them to eat it. Even if it’s a toddler who hasn’t even learnt to speak! While their food and eating habits have changed, their tantrums haven’t. Tantrums not just about food but also about the lunch boxes!

Lunch boxes have never been much of a topic for discussion in the past, but now since more and more information is available online even buying the correct lunch box for children has become an art. More so to do with the fact that the lunch or tiffin boxes as we like to call them are coming laced with a wide variety of chemicals.

Here are some things to keep in mind when buying a lunch box for children:

1.BPA FREE: Always make sure that the lunch boxes you buy are BPA free to ensure that the kids are eating healthy food free of BPA. A lot of companies have started manufacturing BPA free lunch boxes and are readily available in the market. If the lunch box has a recycle code 3 or 7 it is likely that it’s made with BPA. Avoid using such products that can leak chemicals in the food and cause health problems.

2. Size matters: When considering the size of the lunch box, buy one that is a size bigger than what you think is required for your child. Children and their appetites are on a growth stage. Buy a box that is big enough to carry enough food but small enough so that it doesn’t take up a lot of space in the school bag.

3. Compartments: Compartments in the lunch box are a must to keep different types of food stuff separate. Your gravy mixing with other food with make it soggy and inedible. Compartments come in handy when you want to give a varied lunch to the child.

4. Character: Make sure that the character on the lunch box is one that your child likes. Children have a way of being very picky about such things and at times refuse to take the tiffin box to school because they don’t have a certain character on their tiffin.

While lunch boxes seem like a very minute detail in the big picture, a bad choice in the department may lead to health problems. In the current chemical laden and synthetic world, its best to read up and educate yourself about the things your child uses, even if it’s something as simple as a lunch box or water bottle! We will be back with more so you have a fun time parenting!
