Ways to Stop Mosquito Bites from Itching

No one needs to be told how annoying, itchy and painful mosquito bites can get. These stinger bites get even to the best of full grown adults so you can imagine a child’s condition in the same situation. Given how much children love to play out side, its no surprise they are more susceptible to the bites, with all the heat and sweat how can they not. We have seen our tiny tots coming home complaining of itching bites on various occasions and what follows can make many a parents nervous. so lets get down to ways of ealing with the itching that comes after a mosquito bite.

1.Ice/ cold: Lowering the body temperature reduced the blood flow in the area. The inflammation and itching is usually caused by the body’s reaction to the mosquito’s saliva. Using an ice pack or anything cold will help relieve the itching temporarily by mostly numbing the area while the body does its work.

2.Inside of a banana: While it may sound a little odd, even some of the good doctors agree that it helps. Rub the inside of the banana peel on the site of the bite. The oils in the peel help relieve the itch and reduce the swelling caused due to increased blood flow. The good thing is, bananas are very easily available in most Indian kitchen for most part of the year.

3.Cold Tea bags: Dip a tea bag in cold water and keep it on the bite site. The cold will help numb the area and the compounds in the tea will help the body heal from the bite and soothe it. The soothing compounds in the tea include caffeine and other tannins.

4.Apple Cider vinegar: Dab a cotton ball soaked in good quality apple cider vinegar on the bite to relieve the itching. Alternatively you can make a paste of apple cider vinegar and flour for use. The acidity of the vinegar helps deal with the mosquito saliva in the body that is causing the swelling and itching.

5.Lime and lemon: Just drip a few drops of the citrus fruits on the bite. The citric acid is known to have itch relieving properties. Additionally you can soak a cotton ball in the juice and place it on the bite.

6.Oatmeal: While its good for your gut, it also helps with itching mosquito bites. Make a paste of oatmeal and apply it on the bite. Wash it off with water once it has dried off. The itching will have gone down considerably.

7.Baking Soda: Take a teaspoon of baking soda, add some water to make a paste, apply it on the bite and let it dry. The strong alkaline solution soothes the itching from various insect bites. Baking soda is easily found in the kitchen and easy super easy to use.

8.Aloe vera: Use the gel of freshly cut aloe vera leaf to rub on the bite. Aloe vera is well known for its healing and soothing properties for problematic skin.
