A fever is usually a sign that your child has an infection and their body is fighting it. At times the fever may be a symptom for some other underlying condition. However in case of children below 24 months of age even in case of a fever no matter how mild always call the doctor. For older kids here are some remedies that will help bring down the fever rather quickly. Points below to cure fever quickly
1. Steeping a couple of tulsi leaves in a cup of water for minutes and drinking the tea 3-4 times a day helps bring down the fever. The tulsi tea encourages sweating and there by brings down the body temperature during a fever. Pepper mint elderflower and yarrow are some other sweat encouraging herbs that can bring down the body's temperature.
2. Drinking 8-10 glasses of water and staying hydrated helps bring down the body's temperature naturally. The body tends to get dehydrated when having a fever so staying hydrated is a must to avoid any fever caused damage to the internal organs.
3. Wring a wash cloth in a mixture of cold water and vinegar and place it on the forehead, feet soles, chest and hands etc to help bring down the fever.
4. Drinking the juice of 25-30 raisins soaked in water and crushed 2-3times a day is known tone effective in bringing down fevers. Add some lime to the juice before drinking it.
5. Soaking in a bath of luke warm water for 15-20 mins help bring down the fever in a safe way. One can add epsom salts or vinegar in the bath to draw out toxins from the body.
6. Ginger is known have antiviral and anti bacterial properties. Steep some crushed ginger in hot water, add some lemon juice and honey. This concoction should be drunk 2-3 times a day to bring down fever in a day or two.
7. 2 teaspoons Apple cider vinegar and 1 teaspoon of honey mixed in warm water drunk 2-3 times a day will also help bring down fever and eliminate toxins from the body.
8. Numeric milk is another sure shot and safe remedy to bring down a fever quickly. Adding one hand teaspoon of numeric and one fourth teaspoon of black pepper to a cup of warm milk and drinking it twice a day will have bring down the fever.
9. Sandalwood is known to have cooling effect on the body. Make a thick paste of good quality sandalwood powder and water and apply on the forehead. The sandalwood paste can be wiped off once dry and reapplied again and again as required till the fever comes under control.
10. Pump up the vitamin c in your body by having citrus fruits like oranges, sweet limes and lemon etc. Vitamin c helps your body fight the fever.
Be cautious of the other symptoms that accompany the fever and contact the doctor if the fever persists beyond two days. Fevers are usually a sign of a healthy immune system fighting infections and should not be suppressed.
